Started Beekeeping in 2013, taking over from my father, who had recently died. Prior to that I have been actively involved in Beekeeping since the early 1980's
Honey & the Hives
Covering up to 10 Bee Hives which are located in an extremely large back garden.
Honey is normally taken from the hive(s) during August and is usually available from 1st September, whilst stock lasts.
I always reserve 40 Jars for regular and loyal customers, with the balance offered for sale
Global Warming
As the summers and getting dryer, the flowers cannot produce as much nectar, which reduces the honey crop.
The poor flowers are crying out for rain!
Honey
Normally nectar is about 20% sugar and 80% water
Bees reduce the water content to create honey
Honey is about 20% water with a balance of 80%. Of this 80%, half is natural Sugar and the balance carbohydrates.
2020
Honey was available 2nd week in September and was Exhausted within 2 weeks.
2021
This year produced 55 1 lb Jars, due to weather conditions.
2022

2023
Absolute disaster. Brought 1 hive through the winter, only to loose it in the cold weather of February.
Unable to restock the colonies until late April, getting them upto full strength for early July.
This missed all the spring and summer honey. I don't have enough honey to service my regular customers.
Hoping for a spring honey harvest.
